In the minds of everyone who has attended a sectoral event and read at least a few articles on trends, there is a concept that raises the question of "Can I be missing something", befitting those who are afraid of getting lost: Agile.
We were used to constantly changing paradigms and even this year being the year of mobile, but this Agile was on the scale of a single 100-point question on the final exam. We had no other choice but to change.
From the moment it emerged, Agile not only broke new ground as a business model, but also triggered cultural change. Thus, Agile started to provide convenience to companies, societies and individuals in the face of anticipated difficulties.
Where does Agile come into play, and we change, but for what?
Let's explain with an example that change is not a choice, but the only way to survive, as the master Charles Darwin said: According to one study (P.S. : Dell Technologies: The Next Era of Human Machine Partnership), 85 percent of the jobs that will exist in 2030 were not yet present in 2017, in which the study was conducted. If your job description is not one of the professions that will survive in 2030, you have to change it, and if it is one of them, we have good news: you still have to change!
For decades, institutions believed and even stuck with the way work is done rather than the work itself and stuck with titles and bureaucracy rather than customer focus. Until a few software gurus, whom most business people call “garage boys,” state key principles: "Individuals and interaction over processes and tools, working software over comprehensive documentation, customer collaboration over contract negotiation, and responding to change over following a plan" (P.S. Agile Manifesto).
This business model, which we call HEY! at Allianz, is perfect for new generations. Because they do not want titles, they are looking for brave institutions that will listen to them. They believe that they will be successful in competition and make a difference. At the same time, older generations with a structure open to transformation can also benefit from the blessings of HEY!. The companies that did not listen to this demand for change and did not become agile 10 years ago, which were known as the world’s giants, are not mentioned at all today. If we say company, we are speaking figuratively. They no longer exist.
Agile world is also changing what is expected from the employees
Agile transformation requires quick decision making and the ability to adapt to changing conditions. This change is actually reflected in every field from education to our daily life.
For example, children that learn how to read and write and complete their elementary education now receive education in accordance with the following characteristics:
- Analytical thinking and innovation
- Active learning and understanding strategies
- Creativity, uniqueness and taking initiative
- Technology design and programming
- Critical thinking and analysis
- Complex problem solving
- Leadership and social influence
- Emotional intelligence
- Problem solving and comprehension
As you can see, qualifications that were once seen as a "great blessing" and that give advantages on resumes is becoming the standard over the years. It may be sad, but there is no end to learning. We must learn and change to seize the day.
This is exactly what we had in mind when we moved to HEY!, a working model that life goes on fast, work is performed efficiently, and everyone in the team is empowered from A to Z. Our agile transformation journey HEY! will continue.
