The history of Allianz in Turkey dates back to 1923, and its existence to 1988.

The Italian insurance company Riunione Adriatica Di Sicurta founded Şark Sigorta on September 1st, 1923, and Şark Sigorta joined the Koç Group 51 years after its establishment.

Allianz became a partner of Şark Sigorta together with the Japanese insurance company Tokio Marine in 1988. In 1991, Şark Hayat Sigorta was founded. The two companies, who changed their names as Koç Allianz Sigorta and Koç Allianz Hayat Sigorta in 1998, started to operate under the titles of Allianz Sigorta and Allianz Hayat ve Emeklilik after Allianz took over Koç’s shares in 2008. In 2013, Allianz Group made a new investment in Turkey and incorporated Yapı Kredi Insurance and Yapı Kredi Emeklilik. In October 2013, Yapı Kredi Emeklilik changed its name to Allianz Yaşam ve Emeklilik. In 2014, Allianz Insurance and Yapı Kredi Insurance companies completely merged, and elementary insurance activities were carried out under the umbrella of Allianz Sigorta.

Allianz Turkey, the leader of the insurance industry and a powerful financial institution continued its investments. Moving its headquarters to Allianz Tower in Istanbul in 2015, Allianz Turkey made a regional investment decision in 2016. Allianz Group's investments in Turkey exceeded 1 billion euros since 2008, thanks to its operation center "Allianz Campus" in İzmir and "Allianz Teknik Earthquake and Fire Test and Training Center" established in 2019 inside the Turkish-German University Campus in Beykoz, İstanbul.

“Allianz Teknik” Earthquake and Fire Testing and Training Center, which was established to increase social risk awareness, is the first facility in Turkey to compile fire and earthquake tests at a single center in accordance with international accreditation standards.

According to consolidated data, Allianz Turkey, which completed the year 2020 with a premium and contribution production of TRY 14.8 billion, achieved a premium production of TRY 8.1 billion and a market share of 12% in non-life segments. Allianz Turkey has a market share of 11 percent with a premium production of TRY 1.6 billion in the life segment, 16.8 percent with 815 thousand participants and TRY 26.7 billion fund in private pension, and 5.8 percent with 555 thousand participants and TRY 658 million fund in automatic participation.
